FAQs

Congratulations on choosing to have your lens replacement with the most advanced technology available! At the Vision Adjustment Center, we perform the light-based fine-tuning treatments that allow you to achieve your best possible vision after lens replacement surgery.

We are not treating other eye conditions you may have. We also cannot begin your light adjustment treatments until your eyes have fully healed from your lens replacement surgery. It’s common to experience temporary issues such as dryness after surgery. These need to be resolved before we begin. For any such concerns, please follow up with your eye surgeon.

Please plan to be at the Vision Adjustment Center for approximately 2 hours per visit.

A driver is recommended. Your eyes will be dilated and remain blurry and light-sensitive for several hours. Please do not drive until your vision has cleared and it is safe to do so.

There is typically a balance between distance and near vision. If both eyes are optimized for the sharpest possible distance vision, most people can still see well enough to read their phone or computer—especially if they hold things farther away or increase the font size.

If you’d prefer even better near vision, we can adjust the focus in one eye to enhance near clarity, with only a small trade-off in overall distance vision. This approach is called *blended vision*, and about 80% of our patients choose this option.

Please note: blended vision is not the same as monovision. In blended vision, the difference between the two eyes is more subtle, allowing for a more natural visual experience.

You will have two types of visits: 1 to 3 adjustment visits and 2 lock-in visits

During the adjustment visits, we will measure your eyes using multiple techniques. You’ll be able to preview different vision options and try them out in the office. Once you’ve selected your preferred vision, we’ll dilate your eyes and perform a brief ultraviolet (UV) light treatment, lasting between 30 and 120 seconds, to adjust the lens. After each adjustment, you’ll go home and test your new vision in real life. These visits are typically spaced about a week apart to give you time to experience the changes. While up to three adjustments are possible, many patients achieve their desired results with just one or two adjustments.

After your final adjustment, you’ll return for two additional UV light treatments to permanently lock-in your results.

The UV light treatment interacts with your new silicone lens, causing precise shape changes. These changes adjust how light is focused in your eye, allowing us to customize your vision.

There is no pain involved in the adjustments.

Your eyes will remain dilated for several hours after the treatment, which may cause temporary blurriness and light sensitivity. The dilation typically wears off by the next day, but it can take up to 48 hours for the adjustment to fully take effect. Some patients notice a slight red tint in their vision, which usually fades within a few days.

It’s very important to protect your eyes from UV light between treatments. Always wear your UV-protective glasses when outdoors or in the car—even on cloudy days—until the day after your second lock-in treatment.
